Description
Standard d-sub connectors to MIL-DTL-24308 are built using an 0.100″ pitch, but increasingly this footprint does not fulfill today’s military or advanced electronics system specifications for weight and space.
Accordingly, In2Connect offer a wide range of twist pin, Micro ‘D’ subminiature connectors with an 0.050″ (1.27 mm) contact pitch: plugs, sockets, hoods and accessories with 9, 15, 21, 25, 31, 37, 51, 66, 74 and up to 130 ways. Ideal for mission critical applications like aerospace, aviation, electronic, and military communications.
Because of their 10 strand BeCu, male “Twist pin” contacts these connectors have a low electrical transfer resistance (due to the ‘birdcage’ shape providing multiple points of contact with the mating socket) and can therefore achieve high mating cycles and resistance to shock and vibration. Male and female d-sub connectors fit more precisely together and give a more reliable, gas-tight connection with more tolerance to vibration. Sunkye Micro Dsubs are available with insulated and uninsulated wire, PCB, solder cup and flex terminations. Sunkye International originates in the early 1950’s and was one of the Twist pin/ Micro D/ Nano D connector companies to license this technology. Sunkye focuses on fully automatic assembly and has 14 production lines capable of turning out 369,000 of these connectors per Month.
Micro D-subs offer 3 to 4 times the contact density of a Standard D-sub layout whilst, by virtue of the shell design, maintaining the D sub connectors automatic polarisation.
Micro D-subs are qualified and approved to MIL-DTL-83513 which is the United States Department of Defense Logistics Agency’s detailed specification controlling dimensions, materials, performance and test regimes. MIL-DTL-83513 covers Micro-D Sub connectors having plastic or metal shells. Sunkye R04 Series Microminiature Rectangular Connectors have plastic bodies. Sunkye R04J Series Microminiature Rectangular Connectors have Aluminium or Stainless Steel bodies.

Sunkye Filtered Micro-D connectors are low-pass filters, transmitting DC and low frequency signals while attenuating unwanted high frequency noise. The filter substrates are constructed with a ceramic planar capacitor array. Each connector series is offered with standard low-pass Pi or C filter arrays, or with customized filters to meet specific frequency and capacitance requirements. Thermally conductive epoxy protects the filter package from mechanical and heat stress and also provides a waterproof seal. All filtered receptacles are intermateable with standard plugs and connector savers, and each respective family of connectors is supplied with a range of shell styles in both environmental and hermetic configurations. Sunkye Filter Micro-D’s meet the demanding performance requirements of MIL-DTL-83513, except for a reduction in the dielectric withstanding voltage rating to 250 volts DC (higher voltages available on request). The Twist Pin contact system assures superior performance in the most demanding applications.
C Filter
Single capacitor with low self-inductance. This configuration is generally used to attenuate high frequency signals. The simple design allows high-frequency EMI to discharge to ground via the surrounding electromagnetic field. C filters occupy the least amount of space and offer lower cost compared to other filter types.
Pi Filter
Dual capacitors with a ferrite inductor positioned between them. The Pi filter provides excellent high-frequency performance due to its sharper roll off.
