WP20 connectors build powerful indoor interconnect
system with up to 5 contacts rated at 30 Amp.
The WP20 series bayonet coupling
connectors will provide IP55 integrity when mated and will work
reliably in indoor conditions.
They are widely used for safe control and power connections
between equipment where IP 55 is critical, e.g. in
instrumentation, medical, process control, industrial machinery, and other
applications like LED lights and LED display walls, outdoor security cameras,
etc.
The WP20 IP55 has a bayonet latching system which is renowned for
its easy and quick mating and unmating features. It also provides security
against vibration, shock or pull on the cable and facilitates operation in a
very limited space. The push and twist system also allows the connector to be
mated by simply pushing the plug axially into the socket. Once firmly latched,
connection cannot be broken by pulling on the cable.
The
IP standard describes a system for classifying the degrees of protection
provided by the enclosures of electrical equipment. Developed by the European
Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), these standards are
designed to numerically rate an electrical product on the level of protection
its enclosure provides.
IP55 enclosures
are intended to provide protection against dust, dirt, lint, dripping water, and dripping external condensation or splashing of non-corrosive
liquids. The Socket of the WP20 connector is
rated IP44. The contact plating on the brass solder terminations is gold
over nickel in cable free plug andtwo hole fixing panel mounting receptacle.
Plug and receptacle housings are keyed to ensure correct polarisation and
tactile feedback when mating. WP20 connectors have the option of male or female
contacts in any body shell.
Constructed of Nylon PA66/zinc alloy shells with 260 °C PPC inserts these connectors have very
stable dielectric and insulating properties plus they provide good mechanical
properties at their design temperatures of -25°C / 85°C. They are RoHS
compliant, CE marked, lightweight and extremely cost-effective ~ without
compromising the integrity of the interconnection.
WP20 connectors are designed for at least 500 mating cycles and the
clamping can accommodate cable diameters from 4.5mm to 7mm and 7mm to 12mm.
